Topic: Dignity Campaign Activities

To Promote Dignity for All, Civic Bangladesh has published a book entitled "Jago Sabai: Gonnobakti, Nogonnobakti O Marjadar Rajniti" originally written in English (All Rise: Somebodies, Nobodies and the Politics of Dignity by Robert W. Fuller, http://www.dignity4all.org). Bayezid Dawla translated All Rise into Bangla.

The book was launched on 2 February 2009 in the National Book Fair by Robert W. Fuller along with Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Vice-Chancellor, University of Dhaka, who attended the event as chief guest. The launch was covered live on the TV and radio channels.

The University of Dhaka organized an academic seminar entitled 'Dignity and Development" on 2 February 2009. Dr. Robert Fuller attended the seminar as the keynote speaker.

Civic Bangladesh organized a roundtable conference entitled "Rights and Justice: The Dignity Perspective of Development in Bangladesh" on 3 February 2009 in the VIP Lounge of National Press Club, Dhaka. Dr Robert Fuller keynoted the conference and Professor Claire Sheridan attended as Guest Speaker. Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation Mr. Khairuzzaman Liton was the chief guest while former Deputy Speaker Professor Ali Ashraf MP and former Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Ambassador Waliur Rahman were the special guests.

ATN Bangla telecast an interview between Dr Robert W Fuller and Mr Bayezid Dawla, Executive Director, Civic Bangladesh on 5 February 2009. The NTV telecast an interview between Dr. Robert Fuller and TV journalist Mr Zahirul Alam on its Frankly Speaking Program on 10 February 2009.

Civic Bangladesh organized a discussion on the book entitled "Jago Sabai: Gonnobakti, Nogonnobakti O Marjadar Rajniti" on 15 May 2009 in the VIP Lounge of National Press Club, Dhaka. Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Secretary to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Mr Sharful Alam and Editor of the Bangladesh Observer Mr Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury took part as special discussants.
